How to Start a Fashion Blog in 2026
Starting a fashion blog in 2026 is not the problem it was in 2015. The hard part is no longer the website — it is having something to publish every week.
The website is the easy part
Every guide written before 2020 spends its first half on hosting and themes. That problem is solved: WordPress, Squarespace, Ghost and Substack will all have you online in an afternoon, and looklogue gives every account a public blog page without any setup at all.
The part that ends most fashion blogs is the second month, when the first flush of ideas has been published and the next post has to come from somewhere.
Where the posts come from
If you already film — hauls, lookbooks, "styled five ways" — you are not short of material. Every one of those videos contains six to twenty outfits that were described once, on camera, and then never written down.
That is the fastest way to fill a blog: turn what you have already made into written posts, one video at a time.
Each one becomes an article you edit and publish on your own blog page, with your affiliate links in place.
How the money works
- Affiliate links. LTK, ShopStyle, Amazon Associates and most brands directly. You link a piece, somebody buys, you take a percentage. This is what pays for most fashion blogs.
- Brand partnerships come later and want an audience you can show.
- Display ads need serious traffic before they are worth the damage they do to a page.
Affiliate income is why written posts matter more than they look: a video earns for a week, an article keeps earning as long as it ranks.
What to publish first
- Three or four outfit posts, so the blog is not empty when somebody arrives.
- One "how to style X" post — this is what people search for.
- An about page with a real photo and a way to contact you. Brands look for it.
What not to worry about yet
A newsletter, a logo, a content calendar, a niche statement. None of it matters before there are ten posts. Write the posts.
Try it on one of your own videos
Paste a link, see what comes out. Nothing to install, and the first look costs nothing.
